Karine Halpern, From Film to transmedia

Karine Halpern, born in France, was already involved in the Cannes festival at 18 years of age. Karine worked in films, in museums, and is driven by impact and challenges. At age 55 she entered the academic world, building a PhD on 30 years of experience. That is where she creates a transmedia orchestrator role.

For Karine, human convergence is vital. She believes that on the edge of innovation, we need a human being – not artificial intelligence – to mediate all the tools and nurture creativity for all of us, the creators. By creating a transmedia orchestrator role within the concept of transmedia, she is once again adding innovation to the human experience.

Challenges define who we are

While the film industry moved from analog to digital, Karine also evolved in her job. This meant that she needed to adopt changes in technology, as well as in work processes. This continuous change has formed her. Over her lifetime, Karine was pushed to come up with financial solutions as her work was never secured. Her profession changed, she was a woman in a more man-dominated industry. This meant, she had to find a way to gather an income under challenging circumstances. While interviewing Karine, I felt that she was a person of principle, that wants to create an impact and add to society, and you can hear examples of it throughout the interview.
